We experience food in such an expansive and impactful way. Think about it: when we eat food, we see it, we smell it, we taste it, we touch it. This is why we can often recall specific meals - what we ate, where, and with whom. It hits all our senses in a way that very few things do.
So we remember the bottle of wine we drank on our anniversary.
