Hello my friends!
I know it can be temping this time of year to eat a handful of potato chips and a few almonds instead of taking the time to actually prepare food. Trust me, I get it. We’re toggling between mowing, planting, weeding, milking, and (perhaps most importantly) schooling. This means that our days are filled with wonderful activities that create a buzzing pulse and rhythm to the season.
However. It also means that I’m relying on my Instant-pot and old-faithful recipes more than ever.
Perhaps cooking from scratch takes a bit more effort in such a wonderfully active season, but that’s alright. This is the modern age! We’ve got electricity and wonderful tools at our service. If roast chicken doesn’t work for your timing, throw the chicken in a slow-cooker or pressure-cooker instead. Same goes for your pot roast. Thinking ahead will help you to a) stay in your desired budget, b) stay committed to eating the foods you’d like to eat, c) avoiding meal time panic, and d) eat delicious food!
In fact, Angela and I covered this exact topic in our newest episode of Homemaker Chic podcast. It’s 35 minutes of meal encouragement to you as we work through the play-by-play of creating and sticking to a meal plan. You can listen to that right here:

As a quick reminder, we offer our $5/month paid newsletter supporters two menus each month. Each printable menu will cover 10-days worth of seasonal meals and will include notes on when to mix sourdough, soak beans, etc. Recipes are linked to blog posts or YouTube videos, as applicable.
Also worth noting, every Cooking Community member also gets access to our menus over on our app. So whether you support The Elliot Homestead here or there, we’ve got you covered. Over in our Cooking Community, we offer 5 new recipes each month, along with instructional cooking videos for each one and an exclusive, private online social community of home-cooks.
