Hello my friends,
“Well, that’s one way to live your life…” is a quote from Jim Gaffigan’s stand-up routine that Stuart and I have held onto for years, throwing it out humorously at each other when it feels appropriate. In this particular bit, Jim is talking about having his fourth child and people murmuring this phrase him in a sarcastic and condescending tone.
Perhaps some will say the same for how much effort us homecooks put into our kitchens.
The reality is we all spend our time, efforts, and money in different ways. Though each day in the kitchen looks slightly different here on the homestead, especially when harvest demands hours of preserving, I wanted to bring you along for a day-in-the-life of a homecook. Nothing staged or pretend: just real, day-in-the-life capture of an average day of cooking.
As a reminder, we run a from-scratch online cooking school from our little cottage kitchen. If you’d like to learn more about cooking from-scratch with whole food ingredients, including sourdough baking, come join in the fun right here.
Maybe you’ll watch it and think: That’s way too much effort. Who has the time?
Fair enough. Like I said, we all spend our time in different ways.
Maybe you’ll watch it and think: Girl, that’s nothing.
Fair enough. Plenty of homecooks spend more time than I do in their own kitchens.
Either way, I encourage you to pour a glass, enjoy our time together in the kitchen, and hopefully charge forward into the weekend with a bit of inspiration to bring life & goodness to your own kitchen.
This is one way to live your life. And a pretty dang good way if you ask me.
Cheers,
Shaye
Just watched your most recent YouTube video. I am eager to purchase one of your cookbooks but would like to know if any of them have the granola recipe.
