Once upon a time, a girl and a boy happened to meet. In a bar. It was Stu and I. We were the boy and girl.
That one providential meeting where we spent the night dancing away so many years ago has resulted in four children, our little farm, and almost fifteen years of marriage.
Truth be told, Stuart and I were pretty crazy about each other from the beginning. From that first night together, we’ve been pretty keen on spending the majority of our time by each other’s sides (which is quite helpful, considering we not only homeschool together but also work together).
It was Stuart who taught me the importance of saying the words “Please forgive me.”
… and it was Stuart who still reminds me that I’m not loved by him because I’m always lovely (trust me, I’m not) but because by God’s grace, we are able to accomplish the good work that we began when we say “I do.”
In this season of our life, time spent together looks a bit different than it used to. After all, there is the small farm, work load, homeschooling schedule, and the four kids I previously mentioned. Time together now looks like remembering to be interested in stories you’ve probably heard before, laughing at each other’s corny jokes, and taking the opportunities that we can to spend alone time together.
Time without interruption and other needy voices. Although, as you’ll see in this week’s video, not necessarily time without work.
Still, Stuart is the most wonderful human I could ever hope to know and getting to spend any time with him in a genuine joy. Even if it involves sweating and stacking hay bales. More on that in this week’s video.
I hope you have a blessed week, my friends.
Make your special someone a London Fog, give ‘em a little smooch, and remind them how grateful you are to be by their side. Imperfect as it may be.
Cheers,
Shaye
