Come be a homemaker with me for a day...
Humans have good days and bad days, productive days and distracted ones. Even still, someone has to feed the children and clean the toilets.
Happy Friday, my friends.
Perhaps today isn’t the best day for me to share with you a “day in the life of a homemaker” video. After all, I may have pouted quite vocally about the list of tasks the home held for me this morning.
But then I figured you all are humans too. Humans that ebb and flow with the demands of work and home and the ever-charged battle that the two seem to be engaged in.
Humans have good days and bad days, productive days and distracted ones. Even still, someone has to feed the children and clean the toilets. For many of us, caring for families and homes is an irrevocable part of our world. And whether we wake up feeling like it or not, there is good work to be done.
So today I want to invite you alongside a fairly typical homemaking day for me. We start by milking the cow, quickly move onto garden work and harvest, swiftly shift into breakfast mode, and on and on it goes. The day I filmed this video was “bedroom and bathroom” day, which means that I’m also sharing a view into my bedroom and bathroom for the first time as I clean…
There are some tasks not included in the video. Organizing school curriculum, moping floors, running kids to jiu jitsu, the post-dinner-clean-up… but even still, I hope it encourages those of you out there who go about your day in a similar way that you’re not alone. I believe the work of a homemaker is a lifelong pursuit and offers deep value to our families and ultimately, our culture.
So even if you’re scrubbing stains out of pant knees today - charge forward, my friends! And have a wonderful weekend.
Cheers,
Shaye
