Calm Down
A piece of our home you haven't seen, preserving melanzane sott'olio, telling true stories, and a giveaway...
Hello my friends,
It’s a full season here with lots of moving pieces and lots of tasks to be accountable to. Projects and preservation are one piece of that. It’s easy for the gardener and home cook to feel blessed and equally challenged or overwhelmed by the amount of work to be done during this season. Just this week, I pulled these gigantic eggplant (melanzane) from our garden and knew if I didn’t deal with them now they’d be wasted. So I spent an hour calming down in my kitchen, quietly and happily working on the taste at hand. I tried not to let my mind wander too much to the other tasks stacking up on the sidelines. They’ll all have their time.
But today’s work doesn’t stop there.
We’re sharing dreams and the beginning of a new home-project (I don’t think we’ve ever shown this piece of house before?) and focusing on telling ourselves a true (although different) story.
Y’all have been super supportive of the new video format with your likes, shares, comments, and subscribes. Thank you for that. I’m grateful for each and every one of you.

Over time, the stories we tell ourselves become true in our minds. Yes, the garden HAS been productive. Yes, we’ve prioritized some WONDERFUL time with our community this summer. And YES, we can teach our hearts to calm down when they want to get overwhelmed. This is good news! And a skill I’m still working on too. Join me!
Cheers,
Shaye
I’ve been receiving many reminders, from my favorite books in the Bible and the content I’ve curated for my brain to see daily, to CALM DOWN. I used to hate being told to calm down and now I’m so grateful for the reminder. Yes, we can choose calm. Thank you for this!
