Hello my dear friends,
Every year in my home-state, there’s a much anticipated Tulip Festival. Over eight miles of tulip fields are toured by locals and visitors alike, drawn to the perfect blocks of colors that go on and on and on. It’s a full display of nature’s wonder and human stewardship at its finest!
Though our little cottage gardens here on the farm are far less structured than those professional fields, we’re still being gifted with endless bouquets of fresh tulips and daffodils - a fleeting and memorable time in the garden each year. One that can be easily missed if you’re too busy _________ (fill in the blank).
While visiting my brother-in-law earlier this week, who lives in the middle of the city, I was astonished to find endless rosemary growing in the neighborhoods, plum blossoms littering whole streets, and daffodils poking up through stones in the sidewalk. A reminder that there is, truly, beauty to be had in all places.
One doesn’t need to be on a small curated farm to have beauty (to heck with perfectionism… y’all should SEE THE WEEDS IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW), but rather, simply train their eyes to take in the wonders around them. There are no roses to stop and smell currently, so instead, consider this email a gentle nudge to go outside, and smell the parsley instead before gathering a handful for tonight’s supper.
Take in a few deep breaths of whatever you can find that’s beautiful at the moment.
